ADVANCED TRAINING COURSE (ATC)
Project objectives
The ATC intends to rely on best practices and best-fit solutions to address the novel challenges, as well as to stir legal, political and security considerations to incorporate gender perspectives and develop gender-sensitive approaches to combat terrorism, radicalization and violent extremism. At the same time, the course seeks to significantly contribute to furthering the NATO agenda on Women, Peace and Security in the Western Balkans. This ATC aims at attaining the following specific objectives:
To generate knowledge and increase understanding of the importance of gender-related issues and the role of gender in enhancing security
To define, discuss and address the local factors conducive to women’s radicalization in WB
To promote women’s leadership and participation in CT and CVE policies and programs
To support NATO CT efforts through more inclusive approach to security in Western Balkans
To instigate the development of gender-relevant policies and strategies for more effective CT and CVE measures
To synthesize lessons learned on the ways and models of incorporating gender perspectives in CT and CVE efforts
To prompt cross-sectoral learning between participants and sharing experiences and best practices for more substantial inclusion of women in CT and CVE efforts, and more broadly in defense systems of their countries
