Mrs. Ratela Asllani has an expertise on geopolitical and security issues. She has been a member of Atlantic Council of Albania since 2005 and is highly engaged on all forums of discussions, researches,
presentations and different projects as an independent expert, including the gender issues. She has worked as a Political Strategist in NATO, Joint Warfare Center, Stavanger Norway. She has worked in the Ministry of Desense of Albania, where has been an expert on strategic defense policies for NATO and EU divisions, including gender issues and implementation of UNSCR 1325. She has a academic background where she has worked as Head of Political Science department on American University of Tirana, as lecturer in National Defense Academy, Political Science Department in Tirana Public University and Law Department in Vlora University, International University of Pristine in Kosovo; as guest lecturer in Bahcesehir University in Istanbul/Turkey and Research Assistant in Eastern Mediterranean University in Cyprus. She has experience in Kosovo as well as Political Advisor in the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Kosovo, as Projects’ Coordinator for European Agency for Reconstruction and engaged with OSCE projects on Security, Violence on Conflicts Areas
and Minority Protection in Kosovo. Her education background is holding a Master and Bachelor Degrees on International Relations from EMU University in Cyprus and Security Issues diploma from George Marshall Center in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany. She holds a lot of professional training on security, policy and strategy drafting on security issues, on post-conflict reconstruction and gender-based issues from national and international institutions. She has contributed in 2005 in a project by the World Alliance for Citizen participation in Cyprus, “An Assessment of Civil Society in Cyrus: A Map for the Future” and published many articles on national and international events.
